DAVIDSON COUNTY — Davidson County investigators are working to determine how two bodies, one of whom is a Salisbury man, wound up in a shed there.

Sheriff David Grice confirmed in a statement the body of Joseph Dominique Anderson, 27, of 1115 Barbour St., was one of the two men found in the front seat of a black 2007 Crown Victoria Ford. The identity of the second man, also African-American and believed to be in his late 20s, has yet to be positively confirmed.

Anderson was the driver of the four-door vehicle, a statement said.

Grice said that bodies will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for an autopsy on Saturday. Sheriff’s investigators believe the two men were shot, however Grice would not elaborate on a motive at this time.

On Friday at 5:28 a.m. the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the 4000 block of U.S. 64 west, five miles from Lexington towards Mocksville. When deputies arrived they discovered two deceased African- American males in a vehicle.

Another vehicle went through a shed and crashed into the second, where the bodies were found.

Grice has said investigators do not believe the men died as a result of the crash. Published media reports say the vehicle the men were found inside was a Crown Victoria believed to once belong to the Greensboro Police Department.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Sheriff’s Office Patrol Officers conducted the investigation that culminated at the U.S. 64 site at 12:30 p.m. Sheriff Grice said that the investigation is continuing away from the site.

No arrests have been made.

He said this is an active investigation and anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at 336-242-2105. Anonymous calls can be made to the Lexington Crime Stoppers at 336-243-2400.
