Holy Humor at South China Grove UMC

CHINA GROVE — South China Grove United Methodist Church, 230 Rose Ave., will hold its annual Holy Humor Sunday, on April 3 at 9:30 a.m. It will be a time to laugh at the devil, realizing that Christ won and the devil lost when Christ rose from the dead. The church will be decorated with sports and other items from the schools in Rowan County. Congregants are encouraged to wear anything that represents their favorite sports team, amateur or professional. Matthew Weaver will play the prelude and postlude as well as other parts of the service.

North Kannapolis Baptist hosts John Jacobs team 

KANNAPOLIS —North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., will host John Jacobs and the Next General Power Force on Sunday, April 3, at 10:45 a.m. A demonstration service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Jacobs has held more than 3,000 crusades in 40 countries. His strength team has held over 30,000 public school assemblies in the U.S. alone. He has been featured on CNN, People Magazine, and almost every major network. Anniversary at The Vineyard Worship Center 

The Vineyard Worship Center, 2655 Dunns Mountain Road, will celebrate its third church anniversary on sunday, April 3 . The 11 a.m. speaker will be Elder Wanda Fowler of Mocksville. St. Luke Baptist Men’s Day correction

HAWKINSTOWN —  St. Luke Baptist Church will be celebrating Men’s Day on April 3 at 3 p.m. and not on April 10 as announced in the flyers.

The speaker for the occasion is the Rev. Dr. Timothy Williams of Yadkin Star Baptist Church in Lexington. Williams is a  native of Winston-Salem, and a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. He holds  both a master’s  and doctorate in theology from Jacksonville Seminary.

He has been the pastor of Yadkin Star Baptist Church for more than 10 years and is a member of the High Point Educational and Missionary Association Inc.

Rainbow Teat at White Rock AME Zion 

GRANITE QUARRY — White Rock AME Zion Church Home Missions Department will sponsor a Rainbow Tea on Sunday, April 3 at 3 p.m. for a donation of $10 at the Geneva I. Oglesby Community Center, 663 Dunns Mountain Road. Diane Ellis is Home Missions president and the Rev. Thomas Lee is pastor.

Union Chapel holds Women’s Day program

LEXINGTON — Union Chapel AME Zion Church, 4329 Sowers Road, will hold its Women’s Day Program on Sunday April 3 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Debra Hall of New Hope AME Zion Church of East Spencer will be the guest speaker. The Rev. Dairl Scott Jr. is host pastor.

Entertainer Barry McGee at TFBC

At 6 p.m. on Sunday April 3 Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road, will host Christian comedian/musician/evangelist Barry McGee.

The three-time Comedian of the Year uses humor and costuming to portray Biblical characters, which captivates audiences of all ages. He has performed with Lee Greenwood, Ricky Skaggs, and Charlie Daniels, and is a shop chaplain for NASCAR teams.

FPU comes to Mt. Tabor UMC

Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 4520 Old Mocksville Road, will host Financial Peace University classes beginning Monday, April 4 at 6 p.m..

More than 2.5 million families have positively changed their financial future through Dave Ramsey’s nine-week Financial Peace University (FPU). The course provides practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught on DVD followed by a small-group discussion.

Dr. Starks celebrates 37 years

Dr. Martha Seigle Starks, senior pastor of Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 E. Liberty St., is celebrating 37 years of pastoral service during the month of April. Rev. Starks was ordained into the ministry in 1970 by Bishop John Henry Wilson. She served as youth pastor and assistant pastor before being installed as senior pastor in 1979.
