A Salisbury woman was charged Monday after she pulled her gun on two Duke Energy employees who came to her home to shut off her power.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Jamie Michelle Euart Honeycutt, 46, of the 4700 block of Mount Hope Church Road, with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.

A Duke Energy employee, Michael Buchannon, called authorities because Honeycutt came at him and co-worker Devontae Keen with a Smith and Wesson .40-caliber gun. Buchannon said the woman approached his company vehicle and yelled at him about cutting off her power. He tried to talk to her, but she was irate, Buchannon told a deputy.

Honeycutt went inside and returned with her gun and told them “you are not going anywhere,” the report said.

Both of the men jumped into their Duke Energy vehicle. When the deputy arrived at the home, Honeycutt was still holding the weapon, a report said.

She told the deputy she didn’t know who they were and didn’t see the vehicle until she already had them at gunpoint. Buchannon said the vehicle was clearly marked as a Duke Energy vehicle.

She was issued a $500 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
