Military items needed for nonprofit organization

Happy’s Farm Inc., a local nonprofit organization, is seeking military items to be displayed in The Salute To Freedom Tunnel. This 45-foot-long tunnel will display items to honor our military and veterans in an effort to teach the 60 afterschool children, grades kindergarten to eighth, that attend there daily the meaning and importance of our military.

Your items will proudly be on exhibit to honor you for your service.

Items should be protected from the weather as the tunnel is open to allow for the children’s train to pass through it.

The dedication will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21. Make plans to attend and salute our veterans and active military.

Top-notch care from Salisbury VAMC

I have been receiving medical treatment at the Bill Heffner VA Medical Center for years, and all of the services I have received have been top-rated. On Feb. 12, I had shoulder surgery with extensive damage. My tendons and muscles all had to be placed back into position. Dr. Chapman and the ortho department and the entire surgery department, with help from the good Lord, did an excellent job putting my shoulder back together.

They did such a fantastic job.

By the third week, I was out of the sling and moving my arm and shoulder with very little pain.

At six weeks since the surgery, I have full use of my arm and shoulder with no pain.

For a surgery that is supposed to take six months to a year to heal, I have to say that the VA here in Salisbury did an excellent job.

I just wanted to thank Dr. Chapman, the ortho department and surgery department. I also want to let everyone know that the VA does care about its veterans.
