GRANITE QUARRY — As part of National Public Health Week, the Rowan County Health Department and the town of Granite Quarry will hold a Community Walk in Granite Lake Park Monday.

The “walk in the park” begins at 10 a.m. and is open to anyone.

The Health Department says physical activity, such as walking, helps control weight, but it has other benefits. “People who are physically active live longer and have a lower risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression and some cancers,” a department press release says.

Granite Lake Park is located on North Salisbury Avenue in Granite Quarry (U.S. 52).
