Guillermo Razo topped the field in the Mt. Hope Church 5K for Missions on Saturday morning. He covered the beautiful 5K course at Salisbury Community Park in 18 minutes and 30 seconds. Leading the females was Jennifer Cayer with a posting of 22 minutes and 50 seconds.

Hayden Conklin blazed the fun run course in 3 minutes and 27 seconds, just ahead of Noah Wogatzke who ran 3:33.

Race director Belinda Wyatt was excited about the successful first event. She said, “We just wanted all the runners to have a great experience and to leave smiling. Our church couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the 5K and fun run this morning. We’ll use the proceeds for our church missions. The park was the perfect setting on a wonderful spring morning. Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and especially Salisbury Parks and Recreation.”

Charlotte’s Steve Staley, who won the 60 and over division, said, “I love this course and I love this park. This is a real gem for Salisbury. I passed another run in Concord to come here and it was definitely the right choice.”

Sponsors for the event included Powles Staton Funeral Home, Wyatt’s Transport LLC, Pro Tint, Inc., Oakridge Dental and C&C Express.
