Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency names Parent of the Year
The Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. has selected Pauline Murrell for the Head Start program’s Parent of the Year.
Murrell became a Head Start parent three years ago through her two children. She has also received assistance through Family Services in efforts to reach her personal goals in self-sufficiency which helped her complete her education, purchase a home and create a better life for herself and family using the necessary resources.
Murrell was an LPN for eight years and now works as a care manager. She is currently working on a bachelor of arts in social and criminal justice in pursuit of a career as a forensic nurse or crime scene investigator.
Murrell has dedicated time to volunteering at the Norwood Head Start/Early Head Start Center in Norwood. She was also a member of Head Start’s Policy Council and held the position of secretary.
“I devoted my time at Head Start not seeking a reward or praise, because I believe time spent with children is reward enough,” Murrell said.
She enjoys spending time with family, attending church, reading, walking and traveling.
