We are under a winter storm advisory until 7 p.m. tonight, downgraded from a winter storm watch.

The air is so dry that precipitation overnight evaporated. This morning a very light mist is falling in spots, visible on windshields, but not on the ground.

Still, the National Weather Service says snow and sleet are possible, followed by freezing rain for the day. The high will be 33, with east northeast wind at 3-6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Rowan County Weather reports that the precipitation all depends on the dewpoint and temperature meeting, but dry air is predominant for now.

Streets were brined over the weekend and are clear.

Rain comes in late today or tonight, with temperatures rising to 48 degrees by 4 a.m. Tuesday. It will be a windy night, with east northeast winds at 5-11 mph, gusting to 18 mph. Chance of rain is 90 percent.

Rain is likely before noon on Tuesday, but we’ll see gradual clearing and a high of 54. There’s another slight chance of rain Tuesday night, with a low around 35 and southwest wind at 5-7 mph.

Wednesday will be sunny, with a high of 54 and west northwest wind at 5-8 mph. The low will be 29.

Thursday will be sunny, too, with a high of 51 and a low of 31.

More sun on Friday, with a high of 55 and a low of 44.

We warm up even more for Saturday, with a high of 64 and a low of 45.

And Sunday will be partly sunny with a high of 64.
