A China Grove man was arrested Saturday and charged with nine counts of a sex crime.

Shawn Michael Sexton, 27, of 220 Linda Street, was charged Saturday with six counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and three counts of indecent liberties with a child. According to warrants for indecent liberties with a child, between March 2014 and July 2015, Sexton allegedly had relations with a child under the age of 16, while being over the age of 16 at the time and at least five years older than the child in question.

A separate warrant, charging Sexton with sex offense against a child, lists the child in question as being under 13 years of age, and offenses occurring through Dec. 25, 2015.

Sexton was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $225,000 secured bond.

In a separate incident, Mathue Richard Moro, of 1220 Bell Street, Salisbury, was also charged with a sex offense.

According to warrants, Moro, 32, was arrested Friday for allegedly engaging in relations with a 4 year-old child in January.

Moro was charged with first-degree statutory rape, statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and indecent liberties with a child. Moro was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
