Celebrate Wheelchair Games winners Monday

The Salisbury VA Medical Center invites veterans, friends, family and the community to celebrate and congratulate the Salisbury veteran participants of the 2015 National Veterans Wheelchair Games, and kick-off the 2016 NVWG team training season, Monday, Feb. 1, at 2:30 p.m. on Main Street in Building 42 of the Salisbury VAMC campus.

The 11 members of the Salisbury VA team, nicknamed “Blue Steel,” travelled to the 35th NVWG in Dallas, Texas, in June and won more than two dozen medals during the weeklong competition this past year. The team is looking forward to adding even more members for its fourth participation in the games, which will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, June 27 to July 2.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games will offer 19 events plus an additional sport this year – the triathlon. Bobsledding will be also be offered as an exhibition sport.
