Rowan-Salisbury, Kannapolis schools closed for students; more delays

With many secondary roads, side streets and parking lots still icy, Rowan-Salisbury Schools will be closed for students today with an optional workday for 10-month staff.
All staff are on a three-hour delay. All school activities are canceled.
North Hills Christian School will be closed today.
Because many streets in Kannapolis are still slippery and were expected to refreeze overnight, Kannapolis City Schools also will be closed to students today. The Kannapolis make-up day will be Feb. 16, a Tuesday.
Today will be an optional work day for Kannapolis City Schools staff, with a two-hour delay in reporting to work. Employees should come to work two hours late, or when it is safe to travel.
Rowan County offices as well as the Rowan County Courthouse will operate on a normal schedule today. The J.F. Hurley YMCA in Salisbury will open at 8 a.m. today.
Rufty-Holmes Senior Center will open at noon today. Lunch Club sites will remain closed on Monday.
Catawba College will open at 11 a m. today due to lingering weather conditions.
