Thanks for efforts to help prevent child abuse
On New Year’s Eve, Mambo Bar & Grill hosted a fabulous gala event to benefit Prevent Child Abuse Rowan at its new location on East Fisher Street. We want to take this opportunity to thank Ariella Sanchez with Mambo Grill and Jacques Belliveau of the Forum for all of their hard work putting on this event.
Guests enjoyed delicious, Cuban-inspired takes on New Year’s classic dishes prepared by Phil Do and Hampton Ratcliff, all while listening to the comedy stylings of Jason Roland, Jake Whaley, and Brian Romans. Everyone danced the night away counting down to midnight to music provided by True Sound Entertainment.
We had great support from our sponsors: Abigail’s, Suzanne Burgess, Leighanne Dorton, The Forum, Koco Java, the Marsh family, Morgan Ridge Vineyards, Beth Rutledge, Tilley Harley-Davidson, and United Beverage. I would also like to thank all of those who came to help with the event: Christa Canup, Michael Mauldin, Raelynn Perry, Amy Poirer, Misty Ratcliff, Sydney Ridenhour, Laurel Riesen, and Tissica and Andy Schoch.
Those involved truly have a heart for helping others, and most wanted to do something to benefit the children, children that needed the help so desperately. For that, we are truly grateful! From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you!

Waiting for the mail
When Jonas hit on Friday there was no mail delivery Friday or Saturday. Yet my Post was delivered every day. If I was the postmaster I would find this embarrassing. We’ll see what Monday brings.

Elect true conservatives
Election time is fast approaching for N.C. citizens. This may be the year when conservatives take back America and re-instill our founding fathers’ beliefs as stated in the U.S. Constitution. Sen. Richard Burr (R) earlier announced he wasn’t seeking re-election. Then he changed his mind and is running for another six-year term. The presidential primary is a hot one pitting several good GOP conservatives to run against two far-left socialists on the Democratic ticket. Richard Burr makes the statement that he would vote for Bernie Sanders (D) over Ted Cruz (R) which enraged both conservatives and the GOP field. How obnoxious can that be coming from a standing Republican senator!
