The winter storm has resulted in adjustments to several scheduled Catawba athletic events for this weekend.
The Baseball First Pitch Dinner has been rescheduled for Saturday at 5 pm.
Catawba’s basketball doubleheader at Tusculum was rescheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2 and 4 pm.
Catawba’s home swim meet with Carson-Newman has been cancelled.

Livingstone hoops
Livingstone’s basketball doubleheader at Johnson C. Smith was pushed back from Saturday to Sunday, with games at 1 and 3 p.m.

Catawba softball
Catawba, the defending SAC tournament champion, has been chosen first in the annual preseason poll by head coaches,
The Catawba Indians picked up five first-place votes from the panel and 118 points.
Lenoir-Rhyne is second in the poll with 116 points.
The All-South Atlantic Conference preseason teams were announced on Friday.
Catawba shortstop Gina Gerone and pitcher Carley Tysinger are first-team picks. Catawba third baseman Katherine Shumaker was a second-team pick.
Wingate outfielder Morgan Hendrix (Davie) was a first-team pick.

The CCC swimming championships will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hurley YMCA.

Prep football
The NCHSAA submitted its second draft this week for the realignment that will affect local schools for the 2017-18 school year.
Proposed conferences involving local teams:
1A league (8 teams)
North Rowan, Gray Stone, Albemarle, North Stanly, South Stanly, South Davidson, Uwharrie Charter, West Montgomery.
Gray Stone and Uwharrie Charter don’t field football teams.
2A league (9 teams)
Salisbury, South Rowan, Central Davidson, East Davidson, Ledford, Lexington, North Davidson, Oak Grove, West Davidson
Oak Grove, a school that is under construction and will open in 2017, will take a number of students away from North Davidson (currently 4A) and Ledford (currently 3A).
3A league (6 teams)
East Rowan, West Rowan, Carson, Statesville, North Iredell, West Iredell
3A league (6 teams)
A.L. Brown, Concord, Northwest Cabarrus, Cox Mill, Robinson, Central Cabarrus
Hickory Ridge will be in a 4A league with schools in Charlotte and the Charlotte suburbs.
4A league (6 teams)
Davie, R.J. Reynolds, Reagan, West Forsyth, East Forsyth, Glenn

Lady Hurricanes
