Police say a local man was intoxicated and caused a fight at the King Tut Cafe & Hookah Lounge, 220 N. Lee St., leaving a man with a bloody nose.

Raymond Joseph Anglin, 40, of the 4700 block of Jack Brown Road, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive. Anglin has a history of assault convictions.

Salisbury Police responded to the bar just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a fight outside the establishment.

Witnesses said Anglin left the bar and returned. When he went back inside he got into a fight with Austin Wood. Wood told police he didn’t know why he was punched. Witnesses also said a man who accompanied Anglin was so intoxicated he had a problem opening the door.

A police report said Anglin began cursing and yelling at officers. Wood refused medical treatment at the scene.

In 2006, Anglin was convicted of assault against a government official, drunk and disorderly, resisting an officer. In 2001, he was convicted of simple assault. He was also convicted of assault on a female and assault in 1995.
