Authorities say a Crime Stoppers tip led them to arrest a Kannapolis woman believed to be evading law enforcement. The tip came via the Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers Facebook page and within minutes, investigators were placing a woman in handcuffs.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Angel Nicole Severt, 19, of the 2300 block of Davis Street, with misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delaying an officer, and three counts of failure to appear/comply.
Someone sent an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers via its social media page saying that Severt as at her mothers Davis Street home. The tipster said they knew authorities were looking for her. An investigator had been looking for Severt for more than a month.
The investigator went to the home and was invited inside by Severt’s mother, who said her daughter was in her bedroom. The investigator went to the bedroom, announced three times who he was and the reason he as there, but Severt didn’t immediately respond, a report said.
Two investigators searched the room for Severt and found her in a closet wedged into a small compartment.
Severt remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $4,135 secured bond. Severt was convicted in 2014 of misdemeanor possession of a scheduled IV controlled substance and is currently on probation for that offense.
