SALISBURY — The Rowan Museum Inc. Board of Directors has announced the pending retirement — in late spring — of longtime executive director Kaye Brown Hirst.

She has been executive director of Rowan Museum for more than 19 years.

“Through her knowledge, creativity, experience and dedication, the Rowan Museum has grown to include three historical sites and other historical properties,” the board said in a press release.

The museum board said it is conducting, through Feb. 15,  a search for a future executive director of the museum.

A board press release stated: “The person we are seeking must have a previous background in history museum work which includes but not limited to event planning, collections management, security and safety, leading a nonprofit organization, public relations and a knowledge of the history of Rowan County and Salisbury along with a willingness to work with other staff to follow and implement the vision and mission of the museum.”

The executive director’s position is salaried.

Anyone with interest in the job is being asked to send a cover letter explaining why he or she is qualified, salary/benefits expectations and a most recent resume to the Rowan Museum, 202 N. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
