Salisbury’s Scott Robinson new president of Appraisal Institute

Effective Friday, Scott Robinson of Salisbury began a one-year term as president of the Appraisal Institute.

The Appraisal Institute, headquartered in Chicago, is the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers with nearly 20,000 professionals in almost 60 countries.

“I am excited to serve in this new role with the Appraisal Institute as we work to advance and expand the valuation profession in the United States and around the world,” Robinson said. “It’s an honor to serve my colleagues in the profession.”

Robinson’s one-year term as president will be followed by one year as immediate past president in 2017. He also will chair the Appraisal Institute’s Executive Committee and its policy-setting Board of Directors in 2016. He served as the organization’s vice president in 2014 and as president-elect in 2015.

Robinson has served in all offices for the N.C. chapter and has been active at the regional and national levels since 1991, including serving as chair of the national Finance Committee.

In 2007 he completed a four-year term on the national board of directors and was chairman of Region V. He received his SRA designation in 1987.

Since 2014, Robinson has served as vice president for World Association of Valuation Organizations. He has been a trustee for the International Property Management Standards Coalition since 2014 and serves on the organization’s Executive Committee.

Robinson has been active in real property appraisal and consulting since 1987, when he joined Robinson Associates, a Salisbury firm his father started in the mid 1960s. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wake Forest University.
