The city of Salisbury will host a meeting Tuesday that is the first in a series of neighborhood community discussions.

The sessions are designed to engage residents in sharing their ideas and concerns about their neighborhoods, as well as provide information about city services.

The first Community Conversation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Outreach Christian Ministries, 722 W. Horah St

“This is a prime opportunity for our residents in this particular neighborhood to share their thoughts and ideas about their community with our city staff who are directly responsible for those areas,” said City Manager  Lane Bailey.

“It is also a chance for citizens to learn more about the city services we provide, as well as an opportunity for our staff to meet the people we serve. This event is expected to be a meaningful conversation where we can all share information and begin to work towards more positive outcomes for the Salisbury community as a whole.”

Department leaders from areas such as transit, police, public services, human resources and utilities will be in attendance. Members of the Salisbury City Council will also attend.

“Outreach Christian Ministries is delighted to host this initial meeting of our community members and the city,” said the Rev. Bradley Taylor, pastor of Outreach Christian Ministries. “Members of our congregation and our immediate church neighbors will benefit from hearing directly from the city about services, but more importantly, having the chance to express their concerns about the neighborhood.”

The second Community Conversation will be held in late winter in a different location within the city.
