CLEVELAND — The driver involved in a single-vehicle accident Saturday at Third Creek Church Road was exceeding the posted speed limit, according to a highway patrol crash report.
Kelvin Lamont Kelly of the 200 block of South Merritt Avenue, was traveling south on Third Creek Church Road, the report said, and was exceeding a safe speed for the curve. He crossed the center line, overcorrected the vehicle, lost control and hit a tree.
He was driving 78 mph in the 55 mph zone. Kelly was pinned inside the vehicle until rescue crews were able to free him. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
