Salisbury Community Foundation awards grants to local organizations

The Salisbury Community Foundation recently distributed grants totaling $125,000 to 31 local nonprofits.

Grants were awarded to the following organizations:

$5,000 to Capstone Recovery Center Inc. for counseling services for substance abuse

$1,000 to Catawba College for a green revolving fund to support campus sustainability projects

$7,500 to Communities In Schools of Rowan County for supportive guidance

$8,000 to Community Care Clinic of Rowan County Inc. for staffing dental clinics

$3,500 to Families First – NC Inc. for an early learning program

$6,250 to Food for Thought of Rowan County for a weekend program at North Rowan Middle School

$5,000 to Hood Theological Seminary for an environmental stewardship initiative

$1,000 to Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, Trinity Oaks Health and Rehabilitation for a music project

$7,000 to Meals on Wheels of Rowan Inc. for home delivered meals

$2,600 to Overton Elementary Parent Teacher Association for enrichment programs

$2,000 to Partners In Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center for a farm to preschool project

$5,000 to Piedmont Players Theatre, Inc. for a youth theater project

$4,600 to Prevent Child Abuse Rowan, The Terrie Hess House Child Advocacy Center for mental health care support

$5,000 to Rowan County Crosby Scholars Community Partnership for a Middle School Academy program

$2,500 to Rowan County Department of Social Services, Rowan One Church One Child Program for assistance services for abused and neglected children

$6,000 to Rowan County Sheriff’s Office for the Rowan County Youth Leadership Camp 2016

$8,000 to Rowan Helping Ministries for their crisis assistance program

$3,000 to Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation Inc., Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center for expanding diabetes management assistance

$2,000 to Rowan-Salisbury School System, Knox Middle School for a student mindfulness and well-being program

$2,000 to Rowan Vocational Opportunities Inc. for the replacement of production equipment

$4,500 to Rowan-Salisbury School System for a Get Creative in the Co-Laboratory project

$3,000 to Rufty-Holmes Senior Center for repair and disability modifications to the senior’s home

$1,500 to Salisbury High School Athletic Boosters Club for gymnasium security equipment

$3,550 to Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Society Inc. for educational concerts for fifth-graders

$2,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Rowan County program expansion

$5,000 to Students With Academic Gifts and Goals to be Acknowledged for an afterschool liaison program

$5,000 to The Arc of Rowan for an afterschool program

$3,000 to The Rape, Child and Family Abuse Crisis Council of Salisbury-Rowan Inc., Family Crisis Council for a counseling program

$2,500 to West Rowan Neighborhood Center Advisory Council Inc. for preservation of the R.A. Clement Rosenwald School

$3,000 to Young Life for a mentor training program

$5,000 to Young Men’s Christian Association of Rowan County N.C. Inc. for scholarship assistance.

From its first contribution to create a community endowment, the Salisbury Community Foundation has grown into a philanthropic organization managing over 100 funds with total charitable assets of over $20 million.
