West Rowan sophomore Caleb Mauldin scored a career-best 43 points as the Falcons won 94-84 at Central Cabarrus in SPC basketball on Friday.
Paris Hillie added 22 for the Falcons. Austin Love had nine, Jayson Delgado and Martavio Rankin had seven apiece, and Nick Warren added six.
West held some 10-point leads in regulation, but Central Cabarrus came back and took a two-point lead late. West got a timeout with 1.8 seconds left.
The Falcons executed on an out-of-bounds play, with Rankin making a lob pass to Mauldin who made the shot that sent the game to overtime. The score at the end of regulation was 78-all.
West (2-3, 2-2 SPC) took charge in the overtime period, outscoring the Vikings 16-6.
