West Rowan’s girls basketball team romped 81-49 at South Iredell on Wednesday in a non-conference game.
Egypt Alexander paced the Falcons with 19 points. Khaila Hall and Mary Sobataka had 14 apiece.
Shanice Miller added nine points for the Falcons (2-0).
Alexandra Dawes scored 12 for the Vikings.
West Rowan hosts South Rowan on Friday.

Carson’s girls rolled 64-30 against Mount Pleasant in China Grove on Wednesday in a non-conference game.
Sydney Taylor hit two 3-pointers and poured in 16 points for the Cougars. Olivia Gabriel scored 15, and Maren Shumaker had 10, including eight in the second quarter.
“We had a total team effort, and we played really well in the second half,” Carson coach Brooke Misenheimer said. “Everyone played a lot and we shared the ball.
Danielle Mirovich scored 14 for the Tigers, who are coached by former West Rowan coach Todd McNeely.
Carson is 3-1. Mount Pleasant is 2-2.
Carson hosts Robinson on Friday.

Downs has scored 79 points in her first three varsity games for the Raiders (1-2, 1-1 SPC). Malaysia Williams added eight points.
Jada Black scored 15 for the Spiders, while Rachel Privette had 13.

NCHSAA
Olivia Smith of Cardinal Gibbons and Tevin Perry of Bunn are the winners of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.
Smith had a 37-point, 13-rebound performance in the Crusaders’ 62-60 victory over Raleigh Broughton. She scored 23 points in the third quarter.
Perry, a senior halfback on the Bunn football team, helped propel his team to a thrilling 36-29 victory over East Duplin in the NCHSAA 2AA football playoffs and a berth in the Eastern Regional championship game.

Prep boys hoops
Concord’s games at East Rowan will be played tonight due to Concord’s football playoff game on Friday.

The Cougars led 12-2 early but were never able to break it open.
Carson is 3-1. Mount Pleasant, coached by former Concord coach George Walker, is 0-4.

Dorian Pinson and Gerel Simmons combined for 57 points for Lincoln Memorial.
Will Perry scored 41 for the Bears, who lost for the first time.

Taylor Harwood and Sarah Musselwhite scored seven points each to lead Carson to a 32-22 win against East Rowan.
Lanie Fulk had eight for the Mustangs.

8th-grade basketball
West Rowan’s boys led 28-6 at halftime and won 35-20 against Southeast.
Jay Joseph had 14 points, and Tykese Warren had eight for the Bulldogs.
Marcellus Washington led Southeast with six points.
West plays Knox on Thursday.

North Hills
The North Hills middle school boys rolled 51-19 against Statesville Christian.
Micah Chambers matched his season-high of 27 points. Chase Davidson scored 13.
Coach Larry Brayboy praised the Eagles’ solid team defense.

Salisbury Academy
Salisbury Academy’s varsity boys won 35-20 against Concordia. Eight players scored for the Jaguars and they didn’t alow a basket in the fourth quarter.

Taron Lilly scored eight points for the Jaguars.

Sacred Heart hoops
Sacred Heart’s girls won 28-8 against Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association.
Rachel McCullough led the Dolphins with 11 points, and Sutton Webb scored 9. Alyssa Lopez was a leader on defense.
Sacred Heart’s varsity boys lost 33-29 to GCAA with Blaine Shellhorn scoring 14 points. Will Webb scored five.
Sacred Heart hosts Hickory Christian Academy on Friday.
