You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the two biggest shopping days of the year, but have you heard of “Small Business Saturday“?

“Over the past few years, a new holiday tradition has grown in popularity. Small Business Saturday is a campaign that encourages consumers to shop at small businesses on Saturday, Nov. 28,” said BBB President Tom Bartholomy. “Small businesses have great deals too, but usually do not have the advertising dollars to spend promoting their sales like the major retail chain stores do.”

Small businesses also are less crowded than bigger stores and may offer specialty items or one-of-a-kind gifts that you can’t find in the larger stores.

Holiday Night Out is an annual tradition on Black Friday in downtown Salisbury. Everyone is invited to share in holiday cheer while enjoying unique shopping from 5-9 p.m.

So, during this weekend’s retail shopping frenzy, BBB encourages you to show your favorite small businesses some love by “shopping small” on Small Business Saturday.
