Carolina Artists Guild

Tonight, Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, The Carolina Artists Guild will host a demonstration on fun acrylic techniques and mediums by Annabelle Prince, manager of Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff in Charlotte, as well as canvas greeting cards and adult coloring books for holiday-themed fun. American Idol finalist David Leathers Jr. 

On Saturday, Nov. 21, two-time American Idol finalist David Leathers Jr. will be in concert at The Firewater Restaurant, 122 Avalon Drive. Leathers is a native of Fayetteville and won the hearts of more than 50,000 voters in both seasons 11 and 12 of American Idol. Currently a NC A&T college student, David is majoring in business management. Call Firewater at 704-636-8000 for more information.

 

Meet Adam and Scooter from ‘Scootin’ America’ 

• On Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury will host a special appearance by Adam and Scooter From “Scootin’ America,” which chronicles the travels of Adam Sandoval and his Chihuahua, Scooter, as they ride their motorcycle to every Harley Davidson dealership in the lower 48 states to raise money for the families of fallen soldiers —specifically The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund, which helps to ensure that higher education is a possibility for children whose parents lost their lives in the line of duty. ‘A Night to Remember’ 

GRANITE QUARRY — Great Women United presents “A Night to Remember!” Christmas Gala on Dec. 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. at 663 Dunn’s Mountain Road in the Geneva Oglesby Community Center. This is a silver, gold, and white affair for adults age 21 and up. The attire will be gowns, evening dresses, cocktail dresses, suits or tuxedos. The evening starts with a complimentary drink then dancing the night away. There will be a professional photographer on hand plus music by Deejay Brand Nu of Kannapolis. Tickets are $10.

Handel’s Messiah, W-S Symphony’s annual holiday classic 

WINSTON-SALEM —  The Winston-Salem Symphony’s annual performance of Handel’s Messiah will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 15 and 16. Widely regarded as music’s most powerful message of faith, this is the Symphony’s ninth year performing what has become a Triad holiday favorite. Conducted by Maestro Robert Moody, Handel’s Messiah is a truly spiritual experience perfect for the holiday season. The concerts will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 646 W. Music of the Carolinas: Freylach Time!

Sunday, Dec. 13, 3 p.m. Free tickets for this concert are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 2 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of Hanukkah music with one of the most popular klezmer dance bands in Noath Carolina. The core trio, formed in Durham in 1998, features Riki Friedman on clarinet, Mike McQuown on accordion and Stewart Aull on string bass. Karen Kumin will sing Yiddish songs. The performance is presented with PineCone and support from the N.C. Museum of History Associates and Williams Mullen. Canned food donations will be accepted for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
