Spencer woman charged with opium trafficking

A Spencer woman was charged Wednesday after she presented an allegedly forged prescription to a pharmacy in Davidson County.

According to the report, Kimberly Michele Givens, of Spencer, presented a forged prescription at Tyro Family Pharmacy in Lexington. Givens used the prescription to obtain 120 hydrocodone pills, 120 oxycodone pills and 90 Xanax pills. According to the report, Givens falsely obtained more than 28 grams of opiates.

Givens was charged with obtaining prescription by forgery and trafficking opium or heroin. She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
