Police responded Tuesday to a robbery at a laundromat on South Fulton Street that led to a lockdown at nearby Salisbury High School.

According to Sgt. Brandon Casper with the Salisbury Police Department, a juvenile reported that at 8:36 a.m. a man displayed a handgun and stole the juvenile’s cellphone while they were in front of a laundromat in the 800 block of South Fulton Street.

Salisbury High School Principal Luke Brown reported in a message sent out to parents that the school went into a code yellow lockdown as a precaution shortly after the event.

“This is a security measure only,” Brown said.

A code yellow lockdown means that all outside doors are locked, but classes continue as normal.

Police are looking for the suspect, who is reported to be a white male about 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with dark skin, short hair and last seen wearing dark colored camouflage shirt and pants.
