The Rowan County Sheriff’s office charged Vance Paul Childers, 54, with indecent liberties with a child Tuesday.

Childers, of the 900 block of Safrit Road, was taken to the magistrate’s office and charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a child. According to the warrant, Childers’ illicit relations with a minor began in October 2015 and continued into November.

Childers has been placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond. His court date is set for Nov. 12.
