In preparation for an upcoming bridge deck preservation project, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will be performing evaluations this week on the bridge decks on I-85 South that go over Old Concord Road and a Norfolk Southern rail line in Salisbury.

For the safety of the crews doing the evaluations, the three outside lanes of southbound I-85 will be closed in the area of the two bridges between 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, and 5 a.m. the next morning. Traffic is being shifted to the two remaining inside lanes by the median.

Motorists should slow down when driving through the area, and watch for crews along the roadway and traffic signs. They should also anticipate possible delays and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
