Rebecca Rider has joined the news staff of the Salisbury Post as a general assignment reporter.

Rider grew up in Rockwell and graduated from Gray Stone Day School in 2009. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Catawba College, where she majored in writing and had a double minor in communications and psychology.

She served an internship at the Post while in college and has been writing for the paper on a freelance basis since graduation.

Rider has spent the past few years globe-trotting, volunteering with humanitarian aid organizations, and studying human rights issues. She says she’s got an itch for travel and enjoys photography, creative writing, a well-written plot, a well-told joke, and spending time with friends in her free time. But she likes to keep herself busy, so there’s not much of that.
