N.C. Department of Transportation crews, contractors and Norfolk Southern Railroad workers will work this weekend to repair the railroad crossing and replace track and cross ties on Jake Alexander Boulevard West (US 70 / US 601) near Old Wilkesboro Road in Salisbury; forcing the closure of a portion of the roadway.

The work will begin at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, and is expected to be completed the same day by 8 p.m.; weather permitting. This work has been scheduled during this time as not to conflict with resurfacing taking place in the area and to help minimize the potential impact to local businesses.

During the closure, drivers will use Brenner Avenue and Statesville Avenue to detour around the work.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
