A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon at the 700 block of Klumac Road, according to Salisbury Police.

A witness told police that the man, Chad Richard Timms, 37, of Salisbury, was leaning on a guardrail at the bridge on Klumac Road around 3 p.m. when a truck swerved to avoid a black minivan that had crossed the center lane. Timms was hit by a spare tire on the truck’s utility trailer and was declared dead at the scene.

The minivan did not stop, and continued northbound down Klumac Road.

No charges have been filed, and the police investigation is ongoing.
