Comfort Keepers and Whitley’s Funeral Home will have their Sept. 23 Caring Connections seminar at the Whitley’s Annex Chapel, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis.

Lunch will be served prior to the 11:30 presentation. Chuck Miller, funeral director and pre-planning counselor, will be available to discuss the subject of pre-planning funeral arrangements. When the time comes for considering a loved one’s final resting place, the emotions and stress can be unbearable. People might consider it the last gift they can give a loved one in making their wishes known, so they can be fulfilled.

Long-term care planning can be difficult for seniors and their families. To offer valuable information about such planning,  the Alzheimer’s Support Group in Rowan County will host elder law attorney Marjorie Brown at their September meeting. A member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Inc., Brown will present information to help guide family members as they make important decisions.

The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.  The public is invited to have a light meal with the support group, listen to the featured speaker, and join members in sharing thoughts, feelings and tips on caring for loved ones with dementia.

SCS Service moves office

SCS Service has relocated its corporate office to Martin Luther King Junior Avenue South, Salisbury.  The new office will be approximately two and half miles from its previous location on Old West Innes Street.

For SCS Service, a computer service firm, the new office space means improved and agile client service, new amenities for employees and room for growth.

“We are now able to position our entire client services department in the same area of the new building. We expect this to improve internal and external communication, and most importantly our speed in responding to clients’ technology needs.”

Real Estate Investors meet Tuesday

This month, the Rowan Real Estate Investors and Associates will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 22. This month, Dan Waggoner from Waggoner Realty will bring information about property management and how to be successful as an investor with rental property.

The group has moved its meeting to Ryan’s Steakhouse on Jake Alexander. Meeting starts at 7 p.m., but participants may come early and network.

The purpose of the group is to provide information regarding real estate investing in Rowan County. By meeting regularly, the group hopes to exchange ideas regarding how to buy, sell, rent and rehab properties. At times, there will be a speaker to present information that will be valuable to investors as well as homeowners or even prospective homeowners.

Painting party at home

Michelle Allen of Salisbury is operating Art 2U, a business which brings a painting party to a person’s home.

All materials are provided, as well as setup and cleanup.

Allen has been a local art teacher for a number of years. She has an art degree from Pensacola Christian College and graduated from Gospel Light Christian School. She has specialized in teaching people of all ages in every area of art from drawing to painting to 3D art.
