SALISBURY — A former disaster program specialist for the American Red Cross chapter in Salisbury was among four people arrested on heroin and marijuana charges Sunday morning.

Monica Pittman Bruns, 35, of Rockwell, was charged with felony possession of heroin, felony possession with the intent to sell and distribute marijuana and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. She used to work for the Red Cross.

At her arrest Sunday morning, Bruns was placed under $5,000 bond.

Facing the same charges as Bruns are Matthew Wayne Cress, 25, of China Grove, Jared Michael Stancil, 22, of Rockwell, and Carissa Hiltz, 24, of Harrisburg. They were placed under $2,500 bond each.

Hiltz also was charged with misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone) and having an open container of alcohol in the back seat of a vehicle.

Salisbury Police officers J.C. Easler and James M. Hampton made the arrests.

About 26 grams of marijuana were confiscated, according to reports.
