Liar Liar Pants on Fire! Goldmine Toastmasters hold tall tales contest

On August 22 at Baker’s Creek Park in Kannapolis, the lies, stories, and exaggerations were fabulously creative and the ice cream delicious!

Mary Roca won with the tallest tall tale at the Homemade Ice Cream and Tall Tales Contest hosted by Goldmine Toastmasters.  She had some stiff competition among the half-dozen contestants whose tall tales stirred the imaginations of an audience of more than 30, but her funny and action-packed story about how ‘The Inca’s invited Toastmasters’ won the day.  The audience also heard about ‘The Cabin Trail’, the talking turkeys, and why Michelle Obama is not moving to Concord.

The homemade Ice Cream contest had an array of mouthwatering entries ranging from Very Vanilla  to Friendly Fruit. Although there was heated competition, Joyce O’Neal’s Almond Cherry was chosen as the best. The entire event was chaired by Joyce O’Neal.

Goldmine recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and has hosted this hysterical and historical annual event for more than 27 years. The annual contests are attended by local club members, family and guests, and top officers from across the state.
