Sacred Heart welcomes new teachers and staff

Sacred Heart Catholic School welcomed several new teachers and staff to its 2015-16 faculty.

Father Lucas Rossi – Father Lucus Rossi joins the staff of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School as parochial vicar.

He attended Illinois State University and entered seminary studies at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Winona, Minnesota, followed by the Pontifical College of Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. Rossi was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Charlotte in June 2010. Before coming to Sacred Heart, Father Rossi served at St. Benedict the Moor Church and St. Leo the Great Church in Winston-Salem and Good Shepherd Mission in King.

He will be assisting Father John Eckert in his administrative and ministering duties throughout the church and school.

Tyler Kulp – Tyler Kulp joins the school’s middle school staff as the dean of the middle school, math teacher and athletic director.

Kulp graduated from Catawba College with his bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in mathematics, and recently finished his master’s degree in school administration from Western Carolina University.

Kulp spent nine years of teaching and coaching at the middle school level. He has coached many different sports, and was also an All-Star center midfielder for Catawba College’s men’s soccer team from 2002 to 2005.

Mark Prevette ­­– Mark Prevette joins Sacred Heart Catholic School as a middle school Latin teacher and a tutor.

Prevette graduated valedictorian from West Davidson High School and has a bachelor’s degree in religion with a concentration in Latin, English and philosophy. Prevette also received his master’s in theological studies from Duke Divinity School, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Laura Kobet – Laura Kobet joins Sacred Heart as an elementary music teacher.

After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in music from Ohio State University, Kobet spent many years teaching students in kindergarten through 12th grade. She recently graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a master’s degree in theology.

Lynn Frank – Lynn Frank joins the Sacred Heart Catholic School staff as the new librarian and reading specialist for fourth grade.

She comes to the school with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Purdue University and with many years teaching language arts to elementary students.

She is an avid reader and has recently updated all the software in the Sacred Heart library as well as a complete décor overhaul. She knows “reading is fun” and understands how to motivate students to love reading.

Whitney Corriher – Whitney Corriher joins Sacred Heart as the new Spanish teacher and second-grade reading specialist.

She will also be coordinating after-school study hall and tutoring. A 2005 Sacred Heart Catholic School alumnus, Corriher graduated magna cum laude from Catawba College with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in Spanish. Most recently, she was employed as an elementary teacher in the Rowan-Salisbury School System.

Camile Denard – Camile Denhard joins the Sacred Heart office staff as the new business and office manager.

She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She owned and directed the local Sylvan Learning Center of Salisbury from 1997-2012. She has been active in Sacred Heart for many years as a school parent and parish volunteer.
