SALISBURY the magazine, a new publication produced by the Salisbury Post, will debut this week. The official release date is Wednesday, though you may start seeing the magazine in select places around Rowan County before then.

The 68-page first issue features a cover story on the Blackmer House, which has come back from fire and abandonment to be beautifully and meticulously restored by Glenn and Beth Dixon.

Other first-issue stories will focus on good burgers in Rowan County, the comforts of front-porch living, friends who meet regularly for breakfast, the toughest holes at Rowan County golf courses, the art of outdoor grilling, a behind-the-scenes visit with local actor Brian Romans, the fun of spin classes, a calendar of things to do in September, lots of people photos from local events and columns by Brian Davis and Katie Scarvey.

SALISBURY the magazine will reflect our lives in a place filled with the arts, grand homes, great neighborhoods, fine food, strong businesses, innovation, history, education, recreation, social doings and community spirit. It will celebrate all the people, places and things we take pride in.

Regular staff members and contributing writers and photographers will work on each issue, whose design is guided by creative director Andy Mooney.

SALISBURY the magazine will be available at government office buildings and town halls, attorney offices, auto dealerships, banks and credit unions, medical offices, Realtors, restaurants, golf courses, recreation sites, beauty salons and barber shops, hotels, the Salisbury Post and other locations.
