Salisbury comes alive with the “Sound of Music” on Friday, Aug. 21. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of this movie classic with a one-time viewing at the Meroney Theatre, 213 S. Main St., with entertainment by special guest and Concord resident Daniel Truhitte — who played young German soldier Rolf – as well as local actors dressed as the von Trapp family.
Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for drinks and finger food, courtesy of the Salisbury Symphony board of directors. The movie begins at 5:30 sharp, with the audience invited to sing along. Afterwards, get an autograph from Truhitte or dance with him to his signature song, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” played on the piano under the Meroney marquee, and snap a photo.
Thanks to sponsors, it’s all free to the public, but seating is limited, with tickets currently available on a first-come-first-served basis at: Textile Products, 119-121 N. Main St., 704-636-6221; Anna Lu’s Children’s Consignment & Gifts, 103 N. Main St., 704-209-4597; and the Salisbury Wine Shop, 106 S. Main St., 704-636-5151.
