Salisbury and Rowan County will be hosting approximately 100 artists who are arriving from cities and towns across the state to paint local scenes.

Activity begins on Tuesday, Aug. 11 with a three day workshop taught by nationally recognized artist John Ebersberger.

On Friday and Saturday artists can be seen painting at their choice of eighteen sites throughout the county.

The event will conclude with a show and awards on Saturday night, Aug. 15 at the F&M Trolley Barn. All art on display will have been painted on site Aug. 13 and 14.

All interested adults and students are encouraged to participate. Register at the Waterworks Visual Arts Center.

The group has received community support through sponsors and donors.

The steering committee, with guidance and assistance from the Waterworks Visual Arts Center, has been working on this major event for over a year. The logo was designed by artist Barbara Duffy.

The Waterworks is now featuring a Juried Show of Plein Air paintings representing artists from across the State.

Salisbury was chosen for this event because of its history, diversity and centrality.
