Crowds fill downtown for second Summer Sip

There was beer in clothing boutiques, beer in a barber shop and, expectedly, beer in a brewery.

The second-annual Summer Sip Beer Tasting Crawl kicked off Friday afternoon with large crowds of participants. Nearly 500 tickets had been sold before the start of Friday’s event.

A total of 36 downtown shops participated in the event, with a spotlight on Salisbury-based New Sarum Brewery. Each location carried a different beer brand.

Participants trotted from store to store, stopping to taste different brews in a 2 ounce tasting glass. Signs posted on doors warned eventgoers not to step outside with his or her glass.

Summer Sip festivities will continue today at 3 p.m. at the Gateway Building in downtown Salisbury. For more information, visit DowntownSalisburyNC.com.
