Rowan weather: Prepare for another heat wave

We’ve been lucky this week to have a few days in the 80s, but watch out — it’s going to be 98 degrees Monday, with a heat index of well over 100 degrees.

Today, though, we are still barely in the 80s, with a high of 89 and partly sunny skies. The low will be 70.

Saturday has a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but will be partly sunny and 92. Saturday night retains a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9. The low again will be 70.

The chance of showers and storms drops Sunday to 20 percent and it’s going to be very hot, 96. Sunday night also has a 20 percent chance of rain and a low of 71.

Monday will be a scorcher, with mostly sunny skies and an extremely hot high of 98. Not a day to be doing a lot of outdoor activities. The evening brings a 30 percent chance of rain and a low of 72.

Tuesday will be partly sunny and very hot again, 95. And the evening brings another 30 percent chance of showers and storms, with a low of 70.

Wednesday drops one degree to 94 for a high, again with a 30  percent chance of showers and storms, which continues into the evening, with a low of 70.

Thursday, it’s back to sunny and hot, with a high of 94.
