CHICKWEED “Celebrating Indestructible Women”
WHAT IS IT? An annual indoor/outdoor mini-street festival that features all women artists and performers, raising funds and awareness for the Rowan Family Crisis Council battered women’s shelter. It is the grassroots brainchild of seven local women who participate in the art/music/dance scene in Salisbury. Wanting to create an opportunity to perform together, they realized that they were creating the perfect synergy and a unique opportunity for such an all-women revue to foster a fundraising event — for women, by women. They unanimously agreed upon supporting The Rowan Family Crisis Center and its efforts to support women victims of violence. After last year’s event, CHICKWEED presented a check for $16,649.00 to the Family Crisis Council.
WANT TO GO? 4 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at 405 N. Lee St. Advance tickets are $15 at Pottery 101, Green Goat Gallery and Eventbrite.com. DOS tickets are $20 at the Gate (Gate opens 3:30 p.m.)
