CGHS celebrates 74th reunion

CHINA GROVE — The China Grove High School graduating class of 1941 celebrated its 74th reunion at Gary’s Barbecue in China Grove. There were four alumni present, and three absent, for a total of seven classmates. Pictured above, left to right: Nora Eckard, Irena (wife of Robert), Robert Rector, Crawford Junior Sloop and Evelyn Freeze Sagan. Not pictured: Sara Lee Goodnight Brawley, Margaret Ann Watson and Gladys Lloyd.

Slater earns bronze 

Caitlin Slater recently won the bronze medal for Dental Assisting in the national Skills USA competition in Louisville, Kentucky. Studying at Northwest Florida State College, she won 1st place in the statewide competition held in Miami this past April. Caitlin is a 2011 East Rowan graduate. The daughter of Ruthie Morehead of Granite Quarry, and John Morehead, of Salisbury.

Delta Sigma Theta Friends and family Day

The Salisbury Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority recently hosted a Friends and family Day at Granite Quarry Park. The annual picnic was a Thank You to the Salisbury-Rowan community for their support during the 2014-15 fiscal year. Special guests were the Del-Teend (high school students) Jabber-Wock participants, their parents, scholarship recipients, local greek Fraternities and the Delta Dears (senior citizen members). The new Chapter of Officers and Executive Board were also presented and introduced.
