Erica Parsons was in bad situation from start

Erica Parsons’ disappearance is a true mystery laced with deception and surrounded by suspicion. After I watched interviews and read comments, I came to the conclusion that everyone involved is guilty.

When a person knows that a child is being abused but refuses to do something to protect that child from further abuse, they are of the devil. It is so heartbreaking when a child has to suffer at the hands of adults who are supposed to have good common sense and responsible maturity. Children are supposed to be loved, not abused and killed.

Casey Parsons stated she couldn’t stand to look at Erica because she reminded her of Carolyn Parsons, whom she hated. Then why did she adopt Erica? A person who dislikes another person will not seek contact with that person. Erica did not ask to be brought into this world then thrown away by her biological mother.

Carolyn Parsons claims she gave Erica away because she had no job or home. Understandable, but did she seek assistance first? There are childless couples on waiting lists at adoption agencies. Did she consider this solution?

Question is, what is the true motive behind the Erica Parsons adoption? Why do people feel sorry for Carolyn Parsons? She’s just as guilty as the other people involved. In those interviews, I do not see any sadness about Erica in her face and eyes.

I do apologize if I have come to the wrong conclusions but, as they say, a person’s gut feelings are usually correct.

Better to plant flowers

I was very proud to be a resident of Rowan County when reading of the heartfelt local tribute to those murdered at the Charleston church (“Coming together: Rowan residents gather to pray,” June 22 Post). The turnout for the gathering and the sentiments expressed are impressive.

However, just three years ago I, too, would have thought a balloon release to be a fitting symbol of the souls lost in this tragedy. I have since learned the environmental consequences.

Released balloons do not go to Heaven. They burst and fall to the earth as litter that can harm our living creatures. Animals may mistake a broken balloon for food or die strangled in the ribbons.

As society becomes more aware of the ramifications of all our actions, we need to make informed choices.  For example, why not plant nine beautiful flowers for others to enjoy for years to come? This would be a longer lasting memorial and show our respect for the earth and all of God’s creation.

I know the balloon release was done with all good intentions. However, when the facts are known, hopefully in the future a balloon release will not be considered a tribute anymore.

Where does money go?

I am writing this to remind people of Rowan County and the city of Salisbury, be sure to vote in November. Let’s vote the current City Council out and maybe we will be rid of the “Yes Council.” They vote yes on everything and raise taxes and fees every year.

Every time I go to downtown Salisbury, it reminds me of a ghost town. The only thing missing is the tumbleweeds. Where is the tax money going?

There is another concern of mine, which is the increase in the stormwater fee. Where is the money going? Out here in Westwood, we don’t even have storm drains. So how is my property letting stormwater into the city water system?

We don’t have any services except garbage pickup, and we have been annexed since 2007. Also, it hasn’t rained in five months. I now pay $1,000 a year for garbage service. Help.

Not safe anywhere

I agree with Governor Haley that Roof should be put to death if found guilty. It could cost the taxpayers millions of dollars and up to 30 years for him to be executed, if he ever is.

I have a question. If this would have been a black person that killed nine whites, do you believe that Obama would have been on TV? I say no. Do you think this would have been on TV 24 hours a day, day after day? No. Would this have been called a hate crime? I doubt it.

The only time Obama says anything about these things is when a white kills a black or others. Where are Obama and the black leaders when black people are killing each other, like in Chicago and other cities?

Oh, by the way. According to the Obamas and Clintons, it was the gun that kills. We don’t need new gun laws. Just enforce the laws we have now.

One thing — everyone should feel safe in church, no matter what race you are. Because of our justice system and the moral decay of our country, we’re not safe anywhere now.

Fear God’s judgment

One cannot rightfully support something that is outside of God’s will. One cannot be an advocate of what God does not approve of. God is against sexual orientation. Two cities were destroyed. One was Sodom. The other was Gomorrah.

Two angels instructed Lot and his family to leave. As soon as they were brought outside of this place that would soon be destroyed, they were told to flee for their lives and not look back. But Lot’s wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. Only Lot and his daughters escaped.

An Israeli television station showed that pillar of salt, which they said is Lot’s wife. You could tell it was the figure of a woman, showing the figure of a woman’s breast, and long hair piled on top of her head. It was reported that this stands as a reminder of Lot’s wife, now a pillar of salt.

You can read about this in the Bible, in Genesis 19:1-29. The Israeli TV broadcast reported that they weren’t able to find any evidence of Sodom and Gomorrah, the two cities that were destroyed.

Homosexuals living today have no fear of God’s judgment. We can love everyone, but it doesn’t mean we can love what they do.

My sister, Elaine, said you can also read about people of this kind in Romans 1:24-26. It talks about females exchanged natural relations to unnatural relations, and males also. It talks about them doing shameful things with each other. People of this kind did not see fit to acknowledge God. So when you read through these pages, it appears God gave up on them.

There is also a scripture where Jesus said, “It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.”
