Rowan weather: More withering heat

Brace yourself for another hot day, but change is coming.

Today’s muggy start at 74 degrees and 98 percent humidity will lead to a mostly sunny day with a high of 94. Tonight, there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 70.

Expect patchy fog in the morning, before 8 a.m., then it’s mostly sunny again with a high of 95 and heat index values around 100 degrees. The low will be 71.

Friday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, mainly in the late afternoon, with a high of 94 and partly sunny skies. Here’s where things start to chance. The chance of rain and storms Friday night is 60 percent, with a low of 68.

Showers and storms are likely Saturday, with a 70 percent chance of rain, and a high of just 84. The chance of rain goes down to 60 percent on Saturday night, with a cool low of 64.

Sunday has a 40 percent chance of showers and storms and a high of only 79, with mostly cloudy skies. The low will be 62.

Monday will be a refreshing change, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 83. Monday night’s low will be 65.

The usual 30 percent chance of rain comes back Tuesday, but it will be mostly sunny with a high of 88.

The normal high for this time of year is 88, so we’ll have a few days of respite from the intense heat.
