Katrin Moore has accepted the role of volunteer coordinator for the American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery program in Rowan County.

In this role, Moore will be instrumental in coordinating Road To Recovery volunteer drivers with cancer patients who are in need of transportation to cancer treatments.

Moore, a project manager for Food Lion in Rowan County says, for her, this job is second nature. “I wanted to make a difference, and volunteer time to help other people. I went on Volunteermatch.org, an online service that matches people with community needs. Coordinating Road to Recovery for my community was the perfect fit, as it is what I do all day, and is something I can easily make part of my life.”In addition to coordinating volunteers, Moore will also drive patients.

Moore and her team will serve patients traveling to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center serving Salisbury and surrounding counties.

Aliesha Hendrix, program manager of mission delivery for the state of North Carolina says, “The need is extremely high for additional volunteer drivers, and now that we have a coordinator in place with Katrin, we have a chance to grow our volunteer base and get patients connected quickly to volunteers who can help them. Katrin’s willingness to take on this role as volunteer coordinator is huge win for the patients in need in Rowan County.”
