Let us sing for unsung heroes, those who answer freedom’s call.

Those united by one purpose, all for one and one for all.

We will sing and not be silenced, We will keep our voices strong,

For as long as we keep singing, freedom’s cry will still live on!

Song for the Unsung Hero – Martin, Martin

Faith Baptist Church will overflow with red, white and blue on Sunday, June 28 during the annual Faith Fourth Concert, at 5 p.m.

All U.S. service personnel present will be recognized during this concert of patriotic music. The 50-voice Fourth of July Chorus, representing choirs from 19 area churches, will perform special selections enhanced by a slide presentation featuring many local veterans. The program, a blend of patriotism and religion, begins with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the National Anthem and a salute to U.S. armed forces.

Those attending are encouraged to wear patriotic colors. The chorus, directed by Jason Harwood, will be accompanied by Susan Trivette on the piano. Dr. Karl Hales will narrate. The event is organized by Mrs. Daisy Bost, a member of the Faith community.

Marc Hoffman, pianist, music publisher and lyricist, has written a song for this occasion titled “In This Land,” to be performed for the first time at the concert. Hoffman will be the accompanying pianist for the debut of this special song. He has dedicated it in honor of Susan Brown Trivette, Dean Orbison, Jason Harwood and the Faith 4th of July Choir for their service to the community.

Churches represented by the choir are Mt. Zion UCC – China Grove, Faith Baptist, Faith Lutheran, St. Paul’s Lutheran, Shiloh Reformed – Faith, Mt. Moriah Lutheran – China Grove, St. Matthew’s Lutheran – Salisbury, St. John’s Lutheran – Salisbury, First Presbyterian – Salisbury, First Baptist – Salisbury, Bethel Methodist, Grace Lutheran, Organ Lutheran, Dunn’s Mt. Baptist, St. James Lutheran – Concord, Christiana Lutheran, Immanuel Lutheran, First United Church of Christ – Salisbury, and Mt. Hope Church-Salisbury.

Prior to the concert, Rowan Big Band All-Stars, directed by Ron Turbyfill, will entertain with familiar selections beginning at four p.m.

Following the concert, food and amusement rides will be available at Faith Legion Park, located across the street from the church. Faith Baptist Church is located at 203 N. Main Street in Faith. The concert is free and there is plenty of free parking.
