Lee Street theatre produces another wonderful St. Thomas Players production, this time bringing you a compelling story of dedication and independence. In this classic drama, a committed housewife has found herself at a crossroads. She is torn between living up to her wifely duties and discovering who she is away from her stereotypical role.

Some may remember reading this story for a class assignment but now you have an opportunity to watch it embodied on stage! This terrific cast is made up of community members that are joining together to put on this poignant show that is still relevant today. It deals with matters such as the role of women and our obligations to both society and our families when serving in a parental role.

“A Doll’s House examines the reasoning of how one makes moral and ethical choices and from where that reasoning stems, whether from conforming to the practices of society or discovering what is right for the individual or circumstance,” says Meredith Fox, who is playing the title role of Nora Helmer.

Because of the heavy subject matter, the group has been very committed to building the ensemble and jumping into the material. “It is always an awesome experience to dive into another perspective, especially one that is so different from what we know in this time,” says Mckenzie Eury, who is playing Helene the house maid.

Performances will be at the Lee Street Theatre and Performing Arts Center at the Tom and Martha Smith Event Center, 329 N. Lee St. Tickets can be purchased online at www.leestreet.org or by calling 704-310-5507.

Lee Street theatre presents A Center for Faith & the Arts’ St. Thomas Players production of A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen, English language version by Simon Stephens. Show dates are June 18-20 and 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on June 28 at 2:30 p.m.
