Three days after a toddler with suspicious injuries was removed from life support, police say they still are awaiting further testing.

The 16-month-old girl was found unresponsive about a week ago at an East Lafayette Street apartment.

The child was taken to Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast and later transferred to Levine Children’s Hospital where she had been listed in critical condition. Salisbury Police investigators were awaiting autopsy results from the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office in Charlotte to determine further action.
“We have preliminary results,” Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said.
Lingle did not elaborate, but added investigators are awaiting further test results, which she expects could take a few months or more.
