Area Sports Briefs: Intimidators get back to .500

Kannapolis Intimidators pitcher Yency Almonte keyed an 8-2 win at Delmarva on Saturday atArthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Kannapolis (31-31) won its third straight game and evened its record for the first time since April 12 while going up two-games-to-none in this series.
Almonte (5-3) matched the longest start of his career with seven innings and had a shutout through five.
Mason Robbins matched his career-high with four hits and paced a 15-hit attack. Robbins has batted .778 in the series and .486 for the season against the Shorebiards. he season.
Nick Basto homered for the Intimidators.
Kannapolis had six doubles, with Hunter Jones getting two.
Delmarva manager Ryan Minor was ejected in the bottom of the second inning by home plate umpire Jacob Metz for arguing balls and strikes.
The Intimidators continue the four-game series at Delmarva on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
Kannapolis returns home on Tuesday, June 16, for a three-game series against Hagerstown.
The homestand will open with a special appearance by Sprint Cup drivers J.J. Yeley and Jeb Burton.

American Legion
Rowan County plays at home on Sunday at 7 p.m. against Winston-Salem.
Rowan County is 3-0 in the league standings while Winston-Salem is 2-0.

Junior Legion
Carson plays at West Rowan in a doubleheader on Sunday that starts at 4 p.m.
The first game will be a league game.

Local golf
Salisbury Symphony Guild will be hosting a golf tournament on Saturday, June 13 at Corbin Hills.
Proceeds for the event will benefit the Salisbury Symphony’s educational programs.
