Tickets for Slide the City in Salisbury go on sale today at 9 a.m.

The event is set for Aug. 29. A 1,000-foot water slide will be set up on South Main Street downtown and people will be able to “slide the city” throughout the day. People can register online at www.slidethecity.com. Prices range from $15 to $60 depending on when someone registers and how many times they want to slide: once, three times or an unlimited number.

People can use a coupon code, “slidesalisbury,” to save 10 percent on tickets — 15 percent of the proceeds from every ticket purchased using the code will go to Downtown Salisbury Inc., a nonprofit.

Slide the City started last year in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has visited cities across the country. Brad Behle, an event director with Slide the City, said they typically get 4,000 to 5,000 people at each event.

Slide the City was in Raleigh last weekend and was sold out.
